Discerning scene musings from the princess of East London!
Sometimes you’re just not in the mood…I mean to go out to a bar or club. The disco round isn’t for everyone, so luckily our scene creates such a wide range of things to do, see, explore and witness.
There’s art shows – go and see Wolfgang Tillman’s work at the Maureen Paley gallery which launches this week. There’s cabaret – what about the Drag Goon’s, whose next showcase is on 10th June hosted by Keela Kraving. (matchsticktheatre.com)
Then of course there’s this, and I’m looking ahead here – Marc Almond with guest star Immodesty Blaize in a big band, blues and burlesque situation on 20th July at the Hammersmith Apollo, W6…it doesn’t get any camper than that does it!
Pounding beats at Nite Dykesz 006 at Dalston Superstore on Thursday 6th June. This is going to be a sensation! Catch DJs Bearcat, Michelle Manetti, Angel D’lite, GIN tear it up at a new monthly night from 9pm.
More disco news – Carpet Burn presents Madonna Celebration at the Eagle on Friday 7th. DJ’s Paul Joseph and Gareth plus Guy Ruben… and watch out there’s an Madonna tribute act on too from pro Melissa Totten serving Madge realness. Oh Lawd! but lots of fun!!!!
This night METAL BOX at The Star of Bethnal Green is properly underground – in a good way! Anyway it’s on Friday 7th June with residents Jonny Slut and Spatial Awareness DJing and special guest Adamski from the 90’s in town for a DJ session, hope he play’s a version of Killer, remember that one! Starts 10pm, goes on till 2.00am.
This night is major and I love this lot a lot! Inferno at The Yard on Friday 7th from 11pm till 6am… CULT ALERT! Lewis G. Burton and Sebastian Bartz create a clubland community of beyondness! DJs Fecal Matter, Lewis G. Burton and Venice Calypso. Host Lucia Blake and Brother of Set. Performance from Jeanocide. What more do you want?!
What are you doing on Sunday 9th June? Fancy Bottom Heavy: Tea Dance from 3pm at this place called Giant Steps, Swan Wharf, 60 Dace Road E3? Wes Baggaley and Dan Beaumont from Chapter 10 DJ all day till 10.30pm. Book me in!
And also The Glory knows how to put on a show! What with Lipsync1000 every Wednesday, all these beyond shows going on, TROUBLE on Friday’s and GLORY LATES on every Saturday both with special guests and DJs and of course my regular Sunday night… The fabulous Lucia Blake from Transmissions joins me on the 9th June for Princess Julia Loves! this week. From 7pm to 11pm.
Then it’s off to Horse Meat Disco on every Sunday at the Eagle till 3am, you never know who you might meet there!!! LOLS!!!!
