#JULIASAYS – Discerning scene musings from the Princess of East London!

I’ve just been looking through the archive of five years of #juliasays, but before that I did a column for QX called Revoltage with DJ and music producer Mark Moore which I took over 5 years prior to this column. That means it’s our 10 year birthday! Somebody publish a book of alternative London nightlife from the past 10 years because I’ve got all the goss…It’s bound to happen one day!

In my search to keep you updated with all things obscuro, let me introduce you to a limited edition tome…Augenblick launches its second issue at The Rio Cinema on Thursday 8th August, 6pm-8.30pm. It’s a little curated magazine of ‘lost and found’ pictorial evidence of social histories ‘dedicated to the art of the anonymous photograph.’ Grab a copy and peruse the #moods of by gone eras!

Put the two most popular pastimes of late together and you get the first ever Karaoke Pub Quiz which is at The Karoake Hole with host Just May on Thursday 8th August. Expect Q&As on songs and fave pop stars plus a literal rollover with Just May at the end of it! 8pm – 2am, all-night-long-non-stop!

So it’s all going on, on the Dalston stretch this Thursday evening because Happy Endings: Magic Box is on at Dalston Superstore also on the 8th August. Troll on down for performance from Oberon White, DJ action from Semi Precious and host action from Lasagna and CeeCeeTeeVee plus a whole heap of special guests… Plus get the latest issue of KINK magazine!!! 9-2.30am.

Who fancies an evening of self-expression? Translucent at VO Curations in Waterloo (12th Floor, The Tower Building, 11 York Road, SE1) on Thursday 8th August is one such event, where performance art defies gender and the constraints of society. It starts at 6.30pm with screenings and goes on with performance starting at 7:30pm from Monika & gisou, Joseph Morgan Schofield, Orlando Myxx and Niya B.

On Friday 9th August I’m Coming Out at is doing a night at The Empire Bar with girl about town Hannah Hooper on the decks! Free to get in and Hannah will be unveiling her DJ talents previously hidden on her iPod! 9pm-2am with guests, friends and lols!

Back for a cult night, Lobotomy Room is at Fontaine’s on Friday 9th. Ease on down to this fabulously kitsch bar up in Stokey (176 Stoke Newington Road, N16) and settle into the basement Bamboo Lounge for a ‘mondo trasho’ evening hosted by Graham Russell. Free all night long, 10pm – 1:30am.

Okay, this Saturday 10th I’m going to Margate Pride for an after march DJ spot but if you stay in London, get yourselves to HOWL – a 14 hour queer party at Grow Tottenham on Saturday 10th August. Starts 2pm in the afternoon goes on till 5am on Sunday 11th! Three areas with lots of stuff going on including Feeld X CAMPerVAN with a performance takeover. BUM.P with DJs Jeffrey Hinton & Tasty Tim, Mark Ashley Dupé from Jungle Kitty and Love Child’s Josh Cafe. And from 10pm THE BUNKER with DJ’s Twang from HOWL, Dr. Moore from OPULENCE, Chadd Curry from KAOS and Becky Strauch, Raro Ashan B2B from HTBX!

Time for my weekly moment – every Sunday at The Glory it’s Princess Julia Loves. This week on 11th August my special guest Claudia Sniffer will be sashaying onto the stage while I play some music and stuff. 7pm – 11pm!

Cabaret night The Drag Goons present Drag To The Future (get it! lol) on Monday 12th August this week. Host Clay Taurus with star turns from Jules Jones, The Crossy, Keela Kraving, Bee Jamming and Lady Aria Grey, Taking place at the Matchstick, Deptford. 7pm-10pm!

Looking ahead, prepare yourselves for Sink The Pink’s Street Party on Saturday August 17th in Finsbury Park (Manor House entrance)! From 1pm join the biggest gay street party ever with 2 stages, a 30ft bar, dance podiums, performance, Cocoa Butter Club, London Contemporary Voices, DJ’s from Savage Disco, drag shows and headlining the pop star that is Nadine Coyle.
