CITY OF QUEBEC – KARAOKE NIGHT

17/10/11: For QX it’s always somewhat refreshing to step into a venue where your level of attractiveness isn’t judged according to how closely you resemble a Jack Wills model or, after a decent meal, whether you could squeeze into a pair of waist 28” denim hot pants.

Instead, at The City of Quebec’s karaoke night, abstaining from the Just for Men and being over the age of 30 will likely play out in your pulling favour.
Based 5 minutes away from Marble Arch tube station, this gem of a drinking establishment is home to a colourful crowd of older gentlemen – and their varied (and even more colourful) admirers.
Careful not to concuss ourselves as we ventured into the low ceilinged downstairs bar we were happily treated to some truly jaw dropping renditions of the karaoke classics including Sinatra’s ‘My Way’ and Celine’s ever-popular ‘My Heart Will Go On’.
Suitably buoyed by the wide-ranging singing abilities of the apparently X-Factor inspired crowd; (perhaps swayed by the cash prize on offer in this two month competition) we can whole-heartedly confirm that this is indeed one Monday night soiree worth checking out – if only to have a week off the Just for Men…
