HALFWAY II HEAVEN: SAY NO TO HATE CRIME

27/08/11: Duckies, it’s been aaaaaages since they’ve let me back out on the town to see me old cabaret muckers. Fresh out of rehab with a new sober perspective, eight months of hard work was ruined after eight minutes in Halfway II Heaven. Before I knew it, I was knocking back shots, dancing on the bar and partying like it’s 1939 – one’s heydey.

But the ‘wartime spirit’ was alive and well, as cabaret divas from right across the scene came together to say a big, fat, juicy NO to hate crime, after dear Ange, one of Halfway’s bartenders, was attacked outside the bar in the early hours, just a few weeks ago.

It was a glittering array of talent, featuring Crystal and Kelly – that’s CK to you, missus – as the gorgeous hostesses. There were also plenty of legends rolling around, like Lady Imelda – who was delightfully molesting an eager young boy, as usual – Mrs Moore and Sandra, plus newer talent such as Son of a TuTu, Morag McDuff, Baga Chipz and much, much more.

Not forgetting our favourite drag bangle, the hilarious/gorgeous Jason Reid… some idiot at QX Towers got his name wrong in a recent issue, so we’re here to put that right, luvvie!

The place crackled and fizzed as the booze flowed and the glamorous ladies kept energy levels sky high all day long. Plus, a fabulous £650 was raised by the end of the day – not bad for a small but perfectly formed bar.

A big thank you to the generous punters who put their hands in their pockets and the talented cocks in frocks who gave their time. An amazing day!
