Light Lounge

05/08/16: In the heart of bustling Chinatown, there is a haven of calm and sophistication where the more discerning gays can enjoy a delicious cocktail or two before heading for more serious partying.

We are talking, of course, of the Light Lounge, the sleek (and bigger) current incarnation of the upstairs bar at Ku Bar. While the dancing got underway in the lower levels of the venue, down to the basement club, it was refreshing to be able to soak in the stylish and relaxed atmosphere – though R&B was pumping on the sound system here too, under the experts hands of DJ Louis Lawrence.

The clientele (from groups of friends to dating couples) was mixed but still definitely had a gay twist. Even the cocktails come in the colours of the rainbow (we saw a purply-blue one being prepared and enjoyed a yummy raspberry-red one).

Our advice is to given in to the expert ministrations of the friendly and welcoming team (no topless barmen here, though!) and let them work their magic in the dark art of cocktail-making.
