The Kings Arms: London Bearfest Opening

18/05/14: It’s not often this reviewer checks out the Kings Arms, being less furry bear and more skinny twig with ridiculous hair, but when you’re entering a bar that’s been the epicentre of gay grizzlin’ since the 60s, you give it the due respect it deserves.

And last Sunday, it was only fitting that this venue was chosen to open Bearfest, the week-long celebration across London of all things furry, friendly, with an insatiable appetite for pic-a-nic baskets. One thing we gotta say is how awesome this crowd is! Ridiculously friendly and seemingly always up for a party, even on a sleepy Sunday, the booze flowed HARD as E.N.V, Doctor Woof and Paul M spun some popalicious sounds that showed every gawping tourist walking past that this was where the party was at today. There were also some beefily delicious fellas in shorts shaking their buckets and stirring our loins, collecting for the Ben Cohen Stand Up Foundation. We hung around after for a ridiculously fun karaoke session. While we didn’t sing, the sight of a hench, hirsute fellas singing along to the campest pop songs ever created certainly ends the weekend on a high. Check out londonbearfest.com for the rest of the events this week.
