05/10/13: Suburban oasis West 5 had us grinning from cheek to cheek with a double bill starring The Cheeky Girls and Sandra. Yes, they’re baaaack!
Acid-tongued Sandra had us on our knees and the Cheeky Girls had us on our feet, pumping their pop hits right outta their pom poms. Gabi and Moni squeezed into bustiers and sharpened their stilletos to mark 10 years in showbiz, with a tight, hi-energy show that whooped up the Ealing crowd of coifed boys and mulleted girls.
Backed by DJ Rich, the 5-song show rang out remixes of their signature tunes and a few arm-wavin, air-punchin club anthems including one from a new album targeted for a Christmas release. The punters cheered, hooted and hollered for more – a welcome return for the hardest working twins on the scene. Asked what they’ve learned on the rocky road to fame, they both sighed: ‘Survival!’
