XXL

06/02/15: It was business as usual at the Pulse this Saturday.

By that I mean that the XXL railway arches at the southern end of Blackfriars Station were pulsating with the megawatts of the sound system and the bodies were throbbing to the housy tunes dispensed by the good doctor Christian M in the main arch. Gyration of the bodies was also compulsively enforced in the smaller room by the expert ministrations of Joe Egg and David Robson, who took turns with their signature mix of highly danceable pop and RnB. Respite from this mayhem and what seemed to me to be powerful new additions to the light system was, as ever, on offer in the deep manly leather sofas of the mirrored bar or in the more funky-looking 4th arch with its colourful astroturf, not to mention in the dark room, purveyor of the ultimate release. The mood was flirty though, perhaps in anticipation of next week’s Valentine’s Day special. So, yes: business as usual.
