TWO BREWERS: 30TH BIRTHDAY PARTY

23/10/11: After a week of shows from the crème de la crème of the cabaret world, marking the Two Brewers 30th birthday celebrations, the ‘best of the rest’ gathered at the south London iconic boozer last Sunday for a marathon drag fundraiser.

All in aid of the 17-24-30 ‘No to hate crime’ charity. As always, a warm and electric atmosphere greeted us, and LOTS of balloons, as Lola Lasagne expertly hosted the whole six hours with ease. It was like a who’s who of the cabaret world, both on and off stage but we never name drop… Much!

Lola, Topping and Butch, Bette Rinse and Mrs. Moore got the evening underway to a rocking crowd who went wild, as Lady Imelda glided onto the stage, in one of the biggest dresses I have ever seen in my life.

Susan Black entertained with spine tingling, Kate Bush-like vocals, All Mouth and No Trousers went disco crazy, Mary Mac blew us away with her vocals, Rose Garden tore up the stage, Dave Lynn brought the house down, Kandi Kane Baxter rocked out (and even got Lola singing ‘I predict a riot’, hilarious), Miss Jason camped it up and Sandra ‘finished them off’.

There was even a hilarious video message from previous Brewers performer, Paul O’Grady.

A truly amazing night, for a great cause. Happy 30th Birthday to the Two Brewers from all  at QX. Long may it, and our flourishing cabaret scene, reign.

STOP PRESS: Two Brewers raised a fantastic £1733.36 for the 17-24-30 Vigil Against Hate Crime.  A big thanks to everyone who was there.
