West 5

Look! It’s West 5! They’re a lovely gay bar/club, perched on a leafy street in sunny South Ealing. Well, that’s a slight exaggeration. South Ealing is not sunny. Well, it is sometimes. But not at the moment. Anyway, West 5 is great! The building dates back to the tudor times! How lovely. Or at least it looks like it does. And y’know what, that’s enough for us. It’s always packed with West London’s finest, from cool young students to discerning queens! This Saturday 21st, it’ll be a characteristically rambunctious (good word, well done us) party, with DJ Gary C! Hooray!

George & Dragon

The George & Dragon is a gorgey pub, that’s got a real sense of community! A sense of community is quite hard to come by in London. Usually you just shove a Pret in your mouth and get on the tube and ignore everyone until you get home. But the George & Dragon is different. People actually TALK to each other! Imagine that! Weird innit. Scintillating conversation abounds. You can chat and flirt and bitch to your heart’s content! And when you get down to it, that’s what gay venues are all about isn’t it! Chatting and flirting and bitching. On Friday 20th, tartan-clad tartlet Mary Mac will be in, lending her lilting highland tones to er…some songs. From 10pm!

The Old Ship

The Old Ship has been an insitution on the East London gay scene for decades, so if you haven’t been, hope on the DLR to Limehouse and check it out! It’s a bit of a hidden gem actually. Unlike much of the rest of the East London scene, this isn’t all busting art students and bearded drag queens – it’s just a great little no frills pub! Perfect for a salubrious post-work pint. They DO have drag queens every so often though, for when you’re in the mood for a bit of a camp diversion. This Sunday 22nd from 8pm it’s the notorious Miss Jason. She puts on a right show dears, so she does. Camp dears!

Ku Bar

KU, KU, KU! The super sexy, super modern Soho boys aren’t doing dry January, they’re doing WET January! Wet ‘n’ wild January! Assisted by queen of wet look hair, Lady Lloyd, as well as Jacqui Swallows and the ever smouldering bar boys who we’d like to get US wet. It wouldn’t take much. Ku’s always bustling, pop in for an Aperol Spritz! They do a mean Aperol Spritz. It’s technically a summer drink, but who cares! You don’t need to conform to conventions. This is LONDON. Home of punk, rock, punk rock, and drinking Aperol Spritz in January! YESAAAAHH!! Don’t miss Kabaret on Sundays, with aforementioned Ms Swallows.

Comptons Of Soho

Soho boozer Comptons is OUR KINDA PLACE. We love wood panelling. We love alcohol. And we love hot men. And Comptons has ALL THREE! They’ve got positively edible bar staff, all hairy forearms and olive skin. Lovely. And their interior design really is wonderful. Dusky clandestine vibes, reminiscent of the cruisey bars of the late seventies. Retro innit! We love all that. We also love a drink. Sigh. Lovely drinks. Don’t miss Thursdays, when they’ve got scene legend Tasty Tim on the decks from 8pm. Spinning pop hits. Lovely.
