Summer Rites Main Dance tents…
Adam Turner: Popcorn
“Don’t be fooled by the name. Popcorn is a massive weekend house based club night, just on a Monday! It’s easily the biggest week-night party in the country and there is something to suit every musical taste. We also have pop, R’n’B and deep house rooms too so can cater for a real mixed bag of clubbers – and we really do – there’s no place like it, certainly in London, with a rich continental flavour and international clientele.”
POPCORN TOP 3
‘Platinum Chains’ – Michael Woods
We had Michael guest DJ recently: when he played this the atmosphere nearly took the roof off.
‘I Need Your Love’ (Nicky Romero Remix) – Calvin Harris ft Ellie Goulding
A well known current track with a fierce remix from Nicky Romero – perfect for the Popcorn main floor.
‘Follow’ – Kash & Nathan C
A stunning vocal on top of a hugely uplifting progressive track. Never fails to make the crowd go wild.
Favourite Pride Memory
My proudest Pride moment has to be in 2011, when I woke up at the end of the 176 bus route in Penge at about 2am, jumped back on only to fall asleep again, before waking up in town and deciding to carry on partying! I got home on Monday afternoon!
Jodie Harsh: Room Service
“Room Service is a totally insane experience. It’s a packed basement club with house music rules, hot boys hang out and anything can happen.”
ROOM SERVICE TOP 3
‘You Will Never Know’ (Oliver $ remix) – Imany
Gorgeous smooth vocal, hypnotising beat… I love this!
‘Disappearer’ (People Get Real Remix) – Avec ft. Jake Shears
A real old school house vibe… Really deep and a little bit nu-disco. The percussion and groove in this remix is awesome and of course we love Mr Shears.
‘Fucked Up’ (Huxley Remix) – Joel Compass
A bit of an old school garage vibe. Tuuuuuune!
Favourite Pride memory
To be honest I barely ever remember the first few I went to as I was so cunted. I once did the march and my heel broke about 10 meters along, which meant I had to do the final few miles in a pair of trainers borrowed from a gogo boy. That was classy. Oh, and I once led the parade on a float dressed as a cake. A cake! That was cool.
Nick Tcherniak : Trade
“These days Trade events are melting pots of clubbers who have experienced it through the years and others who have just discovered it’s magic. A current and cutting edge policy means its music is as relevant as ever. It’s underground, driving but groovy sounds have a real style to them that is unquestionably ‘Trade’.”
TRADE TOP 3
‘The Judgement’ – Christian Smith
Big track on Bedrock from last year that’s still in my box.
‘House This House’ – Christian Smith
Another from our Trade headliner, again from a few months back but so good!
‘Delicia’ – Daniel Bob
Pure dancefloor energy, a new-Trade bomb!
Favourite Pride memory?
I remember one of my first, when I was working in a certain West End musical, many moons ago before I was DJing, being injured by a fellow performer on stage a few nights before the big day. A blow to the elbow by a tankard meant a trip to A&E and naturally milked the injury perhaps a little more than my Nurse advised, allowing me to thankfully skip the matinee performance and enjoy a brilliant ‘Summer Rites’. This time round a definite bonus I don’t even need to bribe a friend into injuring me so I can attend! (Not that I’d advise that of course!)
Saturday 29th June at Shoreditch Park, 1pm-10pm.
