Kris James

He’s a pop artist, he’s new and he’s got summink to say

Kris James is an up-and-coming pop star, and we asked him some questions in sunny Hollywood! Yes, we have the budget for trips to LA and phoshoots in Hollywood. Why are you looking at us like that?! We do!

Hi Kris – describe yourself in three gorgeous words.

Oooh that’s a tough one. Let’s go with charming, cheeky scouser.

What made you get into music?

For me, music is a way to escape from the bothers of everyday life. It’s a way to find yourself and create something that is from the heart. It’s a way to get a message across and for me it’s the best way to do it. It allows me to be creative.

Who’s the best living music artist?

Ryan Tedder, the lead singer of One Republic. He now writes and produces for mega artists like Beyonce and Ellie Goulding. I’d love to work with him in the future – both of us together could make something special and I know it.

What do you think of the current Hollywood trend of doing musician biopics?

To be honest, I’m loving it. It’s so good for people to see how these great musicians have come to be where they are. I think the true stars are the ones that didn’t have the influence of social media. They were legends for being them, through true hard work and talent. Bohemian Rhapsody has been my favourite so far – such an inspiring story. If you haven’t seen it, fancy a Netflix and chill?

Haha. Next question. Who would you want to play you in a biopic?

I’ve always been a fan of Zac Efron, he’s a bit of a man crush for me. Great voice, versatile actor, I almost feel he would be a better version of me…wait, maybe I should reconsider…

Tell us about your music – what’s the message behind it?

It’s mostly about what I’m going through in life, and that’s how people relate to me and follow my journey. I want my music to be an easy listen, show me being open and honest but for my fans to take away something different from each track to relate to their own life.

What’s been the best moment of your career?

The best moment happens every time I perform live. Singing in front of your fans and seeing them sing your lyrics back and them knowing every single word is magic. Knowing that they’ve listened to it over and over again. Sometimes on stage, I just let them sing parts, theres no better feeling. I call it the ‘Robbie Williams’

What’s coming next?

There’s a new single on the way in the next couple of months. It’s a message i’ve wanted to get across for a long time. It’s made me nervous, but it’s the most open i’ve ever been. What better way is there to do it than through music ay? Also, we’re filming the video here in LA throughout August, so I’m hitting the gym hard for that summer bod. You can see that bod progress on insta @MrKrisJames…if you want!

Kris’s single “I’ll be there” is out now.
