NADC has become a celebrated contest for several years now, attracting acts that want to celebrate their creativity and their performance away from the restrictiveness of the more broad stroke/sing-a-long/pub club scene and has proved SO popular that after 5 smash hit seasons, 8 of their All Stars returned for 6 weeks of fabulous and fiendish challenges, all hoping to take home the title of All Stars Champion AND £1000 in cash.
The Grand Final is at the Pleasance Theatre on Monday 8th July! Hosted by Me! (that’s Me! The fabulous queen, not Me – this fabulous queen – crikey, this could get confusing) and starring Aiden Strickland, Coco Couture, Lust, Shar Cooterie, Spoiler Rotten, That Girl, Ula Lah and The Public Universal Friend, aka The Puf – you are guaranteed an evening of delightful kookiness, creativity and flair with more talent on that stage than you can shake your bongos at!
If you enjoy drag in all its colours – do yourself a favour and check it out before it’s gone for another season!
This season has been enabled by funding from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and contestants have been receiving some mentoring and act development from industry experts. After this season, they’ll also be running a drag summer school, which includes sessions in creating full-length solo shows and applying for funding and development. It’s a credit to the competition that there’s a focus on this kind of nurturing. Check out the Instagram account for @methedragqueen for more details
