This year Queer Theatre launches OutCast, an exciting new initiative in London which aims to amplify diverse queer voices and stories. This brand-new annual series will premiere in February 2025 at The Two Brewers, highlighting seasoned industry professionals and emerging performers. The showcase will also feature performances from new and rediscovered LGBTQ+ writing.

The performances in OutCast will showcase participants from Queer Theatre’s 2B: Acting Classes, with some performers appearing on stage for the very first time.

Acting classes are held every Monday at The Two Brewers. They provide a vital safe space for LGBTQ+ actors to develop their skills, build community connections, and engage with material that reflects their experiences.

OutCast feels like something we’ve always needed. It’s a celebration of queer voices and stories, from emerging talents finding their feet to established performers eager to explore new writing. I have loved working in a wholly queer space, exploring queer writing, characters, issues, and experiences without the possibility of fear, judgement, or prejudice. OutCast is when we choose to open our doors to those who want to see what we’ve been doing. It’s our chance to share the diversity and richness of LGBTQ+ experiences within our community without any barriers to entry.

Artistic Director Andrew Keates

The showcase is directed by award-winning theatre director, artistic director, and founder of Queer Theatre, Andrew Keates. Queer Theatre is proud to have patrons such as Stephen Fry, Annette Badland, and Martin Sherman, who support the company’s mission to provide a platform for LGBTQ+ voices in the performing arts. They are dedicated to nurturing queer talent and sharing LGBTQ+ stories. In line with this mission, Queer Theatre is offering 50 complimentary tickets to casting directors, producers, and directors.

There will be three OutCast showcases held throughout the year. The inaugural event is scheduled for February 26, with two additional showcases on July 25 and October 24. These events will highlight a wide range of lived queer experiences and provide emerging LGBTQ+ voices with the opportunity to share their stories on stage.

OutCast is on Wednesday 26 February 2025, Friday 25 July 2025, Friday 24 October 2025 at The Two Brewers, 114 Clapham High Street, London SW4 7UJ, United Kingdom.
