King’s Cross Summer Sounds is making a grand return this summer, celebrating its 11th year with an exceptional lineup of artists for the 2026 edition. From 13 – 23 August 2026, King’s Cross audiences are invited to slow down, settle in, and enjoy a diverse program that seamlessly blends the best of folk, jazz, soul, classical, and indie rock. The event will feature dynamic dance performances and showcase remarkable local talent, all set against the backdrop of Coal Drops Yard.
Summer Sounds is the highlight of Escape in King’s Cross, London, which features a relaxed summer season of free and affordable cultural events. This program is designed for leisurely hours in a central London neighbourhood that feels calm, green, and inviting for relaxation. Whether you enjoy watching the sunset by the canals, exploring a makers’ market, tasting new flavours, or soaking up the summer sounds with friends, King’s Cross offers countless ways to escape without leaving the city.
This Year’s Summer Sounds Festival Lineup Includes:
Tomorrow’s Warriors is celebrating 35 years of pioneering jazz by bringing the soul of Motown to life with the Motown Gospel Choir. This event will also unite exceptional artists from South Asia and the Middle East in a powerful cross-cultural concert featuring Musical Dialogues of the East and the Aga Khan Music Programme.
Americana with a twist with Little Grandad; five mass community choirs on one day, including London City Voices and& West End Musical Choir performing a variety of musical showstoppers and pop mashups.
Further highlights include Queer Britain and Sounds Queer championing diverse voices and sounds from across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum; and the English Folk Dance Song Society showcase with global folk from Mishra and progressive instrumental folk from Pons Aelius.
The festival features 11 days of music and dance, creating a spirit of celebration in the heart of London that unites people from all walks of life.
The festival transforms King’s Cross into a vibrant hub of music and dance, celebrating community diversity and its standing as one of London’s most inclusive free music festivals. King’s Cross Summer Sounds will feature live concerts every evening from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM and on ‘Family Sundays’ from 1 PM to 6 PM. Additionally, a hearing loop will be available for those with hearing aids, as well as a designated accessible area for individuals with limited mobility.
Sounds Queer Highlight at Summer Sounds
Wednesday, 19 August – Queer Britain & Sounds Queer with Yshee, Kimmy Beatbox, Toby Corton (DJ), Dyan Tai, Thandi Phoenix, Arno Sacco, Bessi (6:30 PM – 8:30 PM):
The evening will celebrate diverse voices and sounds from across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, hosted by Yshee Black. The evening features Kimmy Beatbox, one of the UK’s top beatboxers, and a DJ set from Toby Corton, the founder of Sounds Queer. Dyan Tai will present their unique blend of electronic hyperpop music, infused with Beijing opera, Southeast Asian soundscapes, and Y2K pop-punk nostalgia. Arno Sacco is an emerging talent in the new wave of European R&B, while Bessi is a jazz and soul artist recognised for their poignant lyrics that balance tenderness with a fast pace.
