ALL ABOUT THE SATURDAYS

Ahead of their PA at G-A-Y this weekend, club promoter Jeremy Joseph dialled-up Rochelle and Frankie from The Saturdays for a natter!

Jeremy: When I heard QX was interviewing you I was like “I’m doing it…” Anyway, you woke me up this morning.

Rochelle: Oh, did we?

I left the TV on and I half woke-up, and I went ‘What’s this?’ and I was like ‘Oh my god, the Saturdays are on!’ So, I’m gonna start with what time do you have to get up usually?

What time was the first call for make-up today? 3.45am! We got picked up at 3.20am.

And it literally takes a couple of hours for you to get ready?

We have like three hours of hair and make-up between all of us.

Are things harder for you, obviously you being pregnant?

It’s not as hard as it was, but I’m just like ‘mind over matter’ and all that.

So, can we confirm that your waters might break at G-A-Y?

Oh, please, don’t curse me like that! It’s like my first proper show but, like, oh my god, Jeremy you’ll have to catch it if it does…

I will! I’ll be there with a bucket and a towel! But how does it change the format of the show for you? Has it changed?

I’m not doing as much ducking down low as I was! But yeah, apart from that, no.

“It’s real, it happens. It’s a reality show, what we signed up for…”

You’re not going to turn into Westlife, and just sit on a stool?

No! Although I sometimes feel like it!

I know when you’re doing interviews everyone’s doing baby talk, but do you know it it’s a boy or a girl yet?

No. I went old school.

What’s going to happen to the band while you’re on a break? Are they just going to do foursomes or are they going to take a break as well?

Foursomes, yeah. I’m not actually taking that much time off, you know. It’s quite good ‘cause we’ll be in-between singles, we’ve just released this song, and obviously we’ve got a little wait ‘til the next one so it was quite good timing.

Are you ready with the next single?

Yeah, we shot a video… there were a lot of headshots!

So, a possible No. 1 on Sunday for ‘What About Us’…

Wow, imagine how excited we will be when we see you if we’ve got that happening.

“Obviously we get homesick and certain things that we miss out on, you know, and in our personal lives, there’ll always be something”

You’ve been so close to No.1’s before with ‘Can’t Get Enough’ and ‘Forever is Over’. Which ones do you wish had made it to No.1?

‘All Fired Up’.

Okay, so ‘Chasing the Saturdays’, it really does show an amazing side to the group. Is there a negative side to being in The Saturdays?

Obviously we get homesick and certain things that we miss out on, you know, and in our personal lives, there’ll always be something, so I can’t be like ‘oh yeah, I’ll be at your wedding next year!’ because you can never control that side.

And how do you do that, because that’s harder for you, considering the schedule for JLS and your schedule, they can’t really set it for you to both have time off and be the same?

Well, we’re kinda lucky because we’ve got good managers. They kind of have both our schedules and they plan things that way, which makes things a lot easier.

Well, I’ve got five quick-fire questions to you to end, but I’m going to ask these questions to Frankie in a minute, and I want to know how well Frankie knows you to see if she gives you the same answers. Okay, if you were in a fire and there was time for you to take one possession, what would that possession be?

My dog!

Yeah, Hayley would be mine as well. If I was going to ask you what your worst habit was, what would it be?

Chewing with my mouth full! I mean talking with my mouth full, you know what I meant.

If I said on Saturday, after the waters breaking, that you had to do a party trick on stage what would be your party trick?

Oh my god, I really have no idea.

You don’t have a party trick?

Not really, no! Do I need to get one?

Mine’s fire eating.

What?!

I can fire eat.

No, you can’t.

I can! I’ll teach you. Next: if you had to do a job swap for one day, what would it be?

I’d like to be an interior designer.

And the final question, so The Saturdays have to do a cover of a JLS song and you have to decide which one?

‘Everybody in Love’, I love.
