The Eagle is one of Vauxhall’s finest venues, featuring a variety of nights that keep the club fresh. This Saturday, it launches its latest adventure in its ongoing entertainment schedule for blokes, bears, twinks and any gay man that simply loves a decent night out. QX chatted to Simon Kilner about new night ‘The Den’…
Eagle’s gone all sexylicious over the recent months! What’s with the rediscovery of its sexuality? Or are you gurls just on heat 24/7?
It was time to bring sexy back. We are an Eagle bar after all and have always had darker areas to explore on our very social midweek cruise nights. After being granted our fully legit sex license at the beginning of the year we thought we should use it to its full potential and our customers agree. Our anything goes ‘unrestricted’ night, R18, continues to bring the boys to the yard every month with a lot of raunchy man-to-man action! There is no strict dress code; just guys doing what they do and what makes them feel like doing it! We like to cater to all walks of life here at Eagle, and Trannyshack South brings a whole other crowd of up for it partygoers. There are big shows on stage and a whole lot of other ‘performances’ in the ‘fun rooms’! Trannyshack South has to be experienced to be believed! Back to blokey blokes, and Tonker is holding its own – so to speak – with their XXX nights of beefy burly guys in leather and the introduction of the dark Bear Cave where friendly furry fellahs lurk in the shadows! So yes, we are enjoying having fun with our sexed up line up this year, all very tastefully done.
Tell us about the new night, The Den – what’s the 411?
The Den is ‘a place for men’. It’s our brand new night! Predominantly about the music but with a sexy playful vibe. The Den is open to all guys who want to hear good music, socialize and play. As I said, we are an Eagle bar and we are proud to host events that are aimed at men who like to play and have fun with likeminded men. The Den will not be as full on as R18 with the sex but it will have the same amount of production, there will be the new ‘log cabin’ play area and other discreet areas to explore, our screens will be showing visuals to get fellahs in the mood, the BBQ will be on with sizzling beef and sexy hosts will be giving away free shots throughout the night.
And the music on the night? Fill us in… [ooh-er, missus!]
We are very happy to announce that Jim Stanton of the mighty Horse Meat Disco will be taking up a monthly residency at The Eagle Den and will be joined by guest DJs on rotation. Jim and his special guests will be playing up-tempo tech house and floor-fillers to set the tone. This month, Jim is joined by Dan Murphy of TheMenWhoFell2Earth who played an amazing set along with Jim at our post-Pride party keeping feet firmly on the dance floor all night. The Eagle Den will put quality music first, avoiding commercial sounds and focusing more on deep beats to dance and do more to.
What other Eagle excitement is there coming up to look out for?
Eagle is about to enter its tenth year and we are feeling better than ever! 2013 has been brilliant for us, and we are going to continue that feeling! We have some exciting new events in the pipeline and we also have another tenth birthday happening very soon… Horse Meat Disco celebrate their ‘Decade of Decadence’ this October with an almighty gymkhana! I can’t reveal too much, but there will be special early doors opening hours to make this a party to remember – or so good you can’t remember a thing! We really enjoyed having Wig Out join us last month, it was an absolute hoot, so we are very happy that they are planning more events with us in the coming months! There is also a trip to the seaside as Eagle London & Trannyshack host a night at the first Margate Pride at the end of the month, which should be major larks. As the summer draws to an end, we are focused on the party season creeping up. We have some excellent plans for NYE and the Christmas holidays. Check the Eagle Website for more details coming very soon!
