FLYING HIGH WITH THE EAGLE!

QX goes down to one of our favourite Vauxhall bars, The Eagle, to find out what’s going down in October and about their seven day-opening policy…

So you’re open 7 nights a week (the bar that is) – why did you decide to do this for October?

Following that hot balmy summer where everyone enjoyed our famous beer garden, tasty BBQs and friendly staff, we wanted to completely change our venue to better suit our customers’ desires. Vauxhall is now changing and evolving to suit its position as London’s Party Destination with all the other clubs that make Vauxhall so special, but we are the only bar venue open every night which makes us the heart of the area and a friendly local.

What makes Eagle London different to other bars/clubs in South London

Horse Meat Disco on Sundays which has become a world class name in disco legend; London’s biggest Friday Night bloke feast, Tonker; the largest T GIRL monthly party Trannyshack meets Stunners and our legendary cruise night CLUBR18. We also offer The Eagle membership card, which offers a load of benefits including free entry weekdays and reduced entry on selected weekend events. We also have our Eagle Shop in association with fetish wear specialists Fetish-Freak, offering a range of exclusive merchandise from those sexy essentials  to complete handmade leather gear.

What can we expect on a night-by-night basis?

Monday through to Thursday is our all new layout Eagle Cruise, where we have introduced two new areas, including a cinema and play area. We will have regular pool competitions every Monday with music videos and a super cool soundtrack to every weekday evening with surprise DJs and shows for members and their guests. Then Fridays it’s Tonker, London’s biggest bear bash with a booze cruise and tunes from Head Honcho Tim Jones and his Guest DJs, plus a free giant buffet every week and various HOT theme events including Tonker’s famous leather and muscle parties.

And Saturdays it’s ever changing?

First Saturday is The Den where blokes meet blokes or come with friends and make new friends; second Saturday is London’s biggest and most sexy ‘T Girl’ Party, Trannyshack meets Stunners. Then our third Saturday we welcome Tommy and Blanche with Wig Out where the party gets super fun with a real up-for-it party crowd with music from Sink The Pink and Popstarz Superstars. The fourth Saturday is our very special CLUBR18 UNRESTRICTED where the venue is transformed into an adult wonderland that attracts London’s Sexiest crowd who know exactly what they want!

What is it about the venue that keeps customers coming back?

A warm friendly welcome with a no attitude, no nonsense approach. We want to make everyone’s visit to us a special occasion, even for a quick drink on the way home or as a clubbing destination.

To someone that hasn’t been to Eagle London before – how would you describe the venue and crowd?

The layout of The Eagle is the perfect shape if you designed a bar, with the round island bar serving a great range of super cold and fast drinks, a dance floor for those disco party nights, then a dark cruisy wonderland to explore on our classic Eagle cruise nights, and the ‘Jewel in our Crown’, Vauxhall’s only beer garden with a bar & BBQ. The crowd is what makes our venue what it is!

Who are the brains and brawn behind the beats and disco?

Myself and Ian are supported by a family of dedicated crew: Simon Kilner, our General Manager and ship’s captain is on hand to make sure Eagle keeps flying high, and he’s supported by a team of managers and crew who work in partnership with our promoters to ensure that we have the best possible offers and friendliest welcome.

I’m sure you know we love a good tipple. What are you saying on drink deals?

We have large cans of Red Stripe at only £3 all night and doubles for singles on Absolut Blue Premium Vodka, Famous Grouse Whisky and Vauxhall’s very-own-produced Beefeater Gin till midnight Monday to Thursday and until 11pm from Friday to Sunday. During October we also offer free entry and concessions when you sign up for our Eagle Membership, which is free to join in October!

• Saturday 12th: It is the return of Trannyshack Vs Stunners, London’s biggest T Girl Party with a VERY SPECIAL TXXX SHOW CONFIRMED.

• Sunday 13th: We are delighted to welcome Detroit’s Seth Troxler (left) who will be joining resident James Hilard for an almighty Disco Dance Off.
