Brighton & Hove Pride 2014 promises to be a unique fundraising event that brings together the very best of Brighton & Hove’s diverse and wonderful communities for a proud day like no other. With the ‘World’s a Disco LGBT Community’ parade full of dazzling costumes and spectacular floats, other top acts include Katy B, Blue, Sam Bailey, Pussy Cat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, plus many more… Here we a have a look over some of the highlights. 

 


LGBT COMMUNITY PARADE – THE WORL’S A DISCO  

Saturday 2nd August, 2014

 


Marine Parade
11pm 

With over 160,000 people expected to take part, you will see the streets of the seaside town transformed into a kaleidoscopic carnival of colour, music, dancing, celebration and smiles! Grab your whistle, pull on your hot pants, get your fairy wings on and head down there to revel in freedom and the spirit of solidarity. The organisers want to highlight the plight across the globe where basic freedom to live is denied, with the parade including 78 placards where homosexuality is still criminalised.

 


Pride Festival: Preston Park 
12 noon – 10pm

The award-winning Pride Festival returns to Preston Park with a lineup of entertainment guaranteed to keep over 35,000 Pride-goers happy, including:

Katy B – Queen of the dance floor, with a unique mix of all things dubstep, R’n’B, funky, soulful and UK garage.

Blue – Get ready to scream, faint and behave like a loved-up teenager.

Sam Bailey – Winner of the tenth series of X Factor in 2013.

Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt – Kimberly will thrill fans with Pussycat Doll smashes and her solo singles.

Neon Jungle – A perfect blend of feisty pop and must-dance electronica.

Martha Wash – The original Two Tons O’ Fun Weather Girl.

Peyton – Enhancing dance floors across the globe.

Heather Peace – TV star performing tracks from new album The Thin Line.

Bryan Chambers – Providing house music with its heart and soul since the early 90s.

 


The Wild Fruit Tent

The Wild Fruit Dance Tent provides a unique mix of DJs, lights, lasers, surprise PAs and glorious go-go dancers, including: Seamus Haji, Paul Heron, Fat Tony, Maze & Masters, Mark Doyle, Mikalis, Kate Wildblood, Lil’ Alex and Chris Pullin.

 


The Gaydar Q Live Music Stage with National Student Pride

The Q Stage will host a full day of live music with up and coming local talent as well as 90s legends like Republica.

 


Legends’ Cabaret Tent

Sponsored by Tony Chapman of Brightonian gay institution Legends, you can expect an eclectic gay mix of drag, singers, sequins, powerhouse vocals, pizzazz, show tunes, camp, freedom, solidarity, love and respect. Hosted by Lola Lasagne.

 


Calabash Tent

A music policy as diverse as it’s delightful DJs and performers include Melody Kane, The NYC Downlow’s Ninebob and Gideon, Gail’n’Nancy, Jen Bee, Queen Josephine, Pushy C, Ali Back, Osaro and Affy Go Bang.

 


Men’s Zone

DJs lined up for the Men’s Zone include Chris Brogan (Recon / Salvation), Josh The Barber (GBH), Richard Jones (Sunday Sundae), Chris Barker (DSD), Fabio Luigi (Beyond), Hifi Sean (Up Yours / Beyond) and Tonker heroes Done & Dusted.

 


Literature Live Tent

A haven of inspiration and humour with a touch of politics, the Literature Live Tent will see writers from across East Sussex perform their work at this pioneering event highlighting the best of national and local LGBT writing.

 


Community Village and Marketplace

The beating heart of the Pride, the Community Village and marketplace is a vital element of the celebrations and is filled with local and national organisations, charities and businesses.
