Netflix announces Tales of the City revival with Laura Linney and Olympia Dukakis

Endlessly savvy internet TV giants Netflix have just announced that they’re beginning production on a ten-part Tales of the City revival, set for release in 2019.

Whilst billed as a brand new Netflix series, it will continue on from the events of the Emmy Award winning original Channel 4 miniseries, with Laura Linney and Olympia Dukakis reprising their roles as Mary Ann Singleton and Anna Madrigal. Ellen Page is also joining the cast as Mary-Ann’s daughter, Shawna.

The telelvision show is based on Armistead Maupin’s beloved series of novels. “I couldn’t be more excited about this new brand-new incarnation of Tales,” said Maupin.

“It’s set in present-day San Francisco with all the joys and complications that might suggest for the residents of 28 Barbary Lane.”

“Mrs. Madrigal’s tenants, both old and new, will be entangled in delicious new adventures and ever-expanding possibilities for love.”
