According to figures published today by Public Health England in their annual HIV data tables, new HIV diagnoses among MSM (men who have sex with men) in the London area have dropped by almost 50% since 2015.

1459 MSM were diagnosed with HIV in 2015, compared with 736 in 2018.

The new numbers also show 4484 new diagnoses of HIV in the UK in 2018 – a 6% drop since 2017. This includes all communities and all areas of the UK.

The biggest progress was made in London, where there was a general drop of 12%, compared with 6% in the rest of the UK.
