Valerio Lysander, queer chamber pop singer/songwriter and this year’s Pride’s Got Talent Finalist just released a new single featuring Aaron Sibley (this year’s Finalist for San Marino’s Eurovision Competition).

The track is called In My Mind, and it’s an upbeat pop/folk love song about two guys who like each other and don’t have the courage to confess their feelings. Released today, during Pride Month, Valerio told QX ” this duet is our way to celebrate Pride with a touch of musical theatre.

The song features epic orchestral elements layered on top of a piano and Aaron’s and Valerio’s nuanced and powerful voices, and it was born in a songwriting session the two were having after having met during Pride’s Got Talent 2017, of which they were both finalists.

With a friendship born under a rainbow flag, Valerio and Aaron decided to write a duet between two boys because, they say, “we have grown up listening to all sorts of love duets sung by a man and a woman – and we did love many of them! – but we realised there weren’t as many sung by two men, and we thought the world needed some more of this”. The single is released during Pride month and in the occasion of the finals of Pride’s Got Talent 2022, of which Valerio is one of the finalists. Valerio said that releasing this song in this particular moment is very significative, because “it’s the perfect way to celebrate pride and it’s our little part in helping the normalisation of love between men in popular culture”.

The song touches on their love for musical theatre, which, as Aaron said, “has always played a strong part with celebrating and supporting LGBTQIA+ talents. Also, if you tell me you haven’t imagined your life as a Musical at least once, then you’d be lying.”

The song comes with an official music video, shot last Autumn in London in collaboration with Go out of Tune and it’s on YouTube at this link: https://youtu.be/xJHHGYdVdHg

They will both be performing at various Pride in London events this year, including the 27th June at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, the 30th at the Hard Rock Hotel and on 2nd July at Pride in London.
