Childhood sweethearts, after-school graveyard dwellers – and one of them is dead. Vic and Liz are made for each other. That is, until they’re not. Death might seem like the end, but Vic has other ideas.
Gothic, sapphic and unashamedly gory, I, Victor reimagines Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein through a modern lens of Queerness, nightlife, and serial killer documentaries.
A queer horror play with splashes of dark comedy, it transfers to South East London following successful runs at the Oxford Playhouse’s Queer Fest and Old Red Lion’s Grimmfest.
Spooky, non-binary, sapphic, and silly, it’s the perfect show for the start of the Halloween season, taking Mary Shelley’s classic tale into the 21st century.
Ellis Jupiter (they/them) features as Vic – previously seen in a deliciously Queer selection of projects, including Ian Giles’ film Edward/Maurice and Threshold by Charlie Wood. Most recently, they were seen displaying their fashion sense, Queer identity and vivacious presence on the catwalk of the first ever Self-Made Trans Fashion Show in East London. They can soon be heard reading the last chapter of Simon James Green’s book, Gay Club, on Scholastic Audio.
Issy Flower (she/they) is a writer and actor based in London. Her work has been produced by the BBC/Screen South, NSDF Hub and in a number of small publications, at Grimmfest and Oxford Playhouse and at theatres such as Soho Theatre and the Assembly Rooms Durham.
The show is directed by Sas Kraftowitz (they/them). Their work spans live art, creative non-fiction writing, queer theatre, clown, dance and other poetic liberating nincompoopery. Their recent work includes a solo show in development with Steatham Project Space and an exhibition at The Saatchi Gallery with Food of War Collective. They are currently awaiting the publication of their book chapter on queer madness for Birdsong from Inobservable Worlds in the Wellcome Collection.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I, Victor is full of big, bold flavour … meaty and succinct; a near perfect Halloween playlet, full of blood and gore, and gripping obsession.” – Reviews Hub
