The event which is the biggest single-day bi event in the world, was due to take place on 31 August and as statement has been released as to why Bi Pride has been cancelled.
“We know that this will come as a disappointment to many, but unfortunately Bi Pride UK has had to take the difficult decision to cancel the 2025 Bi Pride event on 31st August.
“No one was more excited than us for the event this year: a year where the environment is becoming more and more hostile to many in our communities, especially trans people. However, we are an entirely volunteer-run charity, and our volunteers have also been feeling this hostile environment, and struggling through it while trying to keep the event on track. Between that, some recent external delays beyond our control, and general cost-of-living and life stress dialling up for many volunteers, things have become too much.
“Speaking of cost, it is worth publicly acknowledging that funding has never been more difficult for us. We have seen a 50% drop in corporate income this year“
Bi Pride Head of Media and Comms, Charlie Mathers
“Nothing is more important to us at Bi Pride UK than our volunteers’ welfare, and we’ve had to recognise that the cost of putting on an event that our communities could be proud of would come at the expense of our volunteers. That is not something we are prepared to sacrifice.
“Speaking of cost, it is worth publicly acknowledging that funding has never been more difficult for us. We have seen a 50% drop in corporate income this year, and grants have only been able to replace about half of that, leaving a shortfall in the budget. We had decided to go ahead with the event this year despite the tough financial climate, committing some of our reserves to make up the difference, as their entire purpose is to prop up the cost of an event if we have a challenging funding year. However, that was only worth the risk if we could put on an event which met our, and your, standards of accessibility and inclusion. With that not being possible, we cannot justify risking Bi Pride UK’s future. However, with an extra year to fundraise, we have time to secure the funds needed to avoid spending our reserves.
“We are delighted that we have been able to transfer our booking at Kings Place to Saturday 29th August 2026, so we will be back! However, this has come with an increase of over £5,000, and we need your help. Bi Pride is always a free event, and it costs £35-40 per attendee to make it happen. We will soon be launching a crowdfunding campaign, so please watch this space. With your help we can make next year’s event everything you and we dream of!
“Thank you for your support, and we look forward to welcoming you to Bi Pride 2026!”
Small Pride events are facing a funding crisis and without community support, Bi Pride’s free, inclusive flagship Pride event is at risk.
They’re launching a £5,000 campaign to keep Bi Pride thriving. If you can help, please do.
