In partnership with the David Wojnarowicz Foundation, the Positive East shop will feature Wojnarowicz’s 1990 artwork, We Are Born into a Pre-Invented Existence. This artwork includes a flower that symbolizes the AIDS crisis, the artist’s own illness, and the enduring nature of loss—elements that resonate deeply with Positive East’s mission to “leave no one behind.”

The new t-shirt will be available alongside six other popular designs from the 2020 collection by artists Linder, Sunil Gupta, David Gwinnutt, and Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley.

You can visit www.positiveeastpopup.org.uk for more information and buy the t-shirts.

Each t-shirt or vest is priced at £30 and is available in either white or black. Importantly, 100% of the proceeds from this project will directly support Positive East’s HIV support and prevention services.

History of the Positive East shop

Positive East launched the T-shirt Shop in 2020, commissioning 14 artists whose work addresses social injustice, LGBTQ+ equality, and HIV stigma. Featured artists included Wolfgang Tillmans, General Idea, Lubaina Himid, Linder, and Sunil Gupta.

The initiative aimed to highlight the powerful role of art in shaping the HIV narrative, particularly during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The resulting collection showcased a diverse range of artistic mediums and perspectives, reflecting the varied experiences of our community. In 2023, they introduced new designs and integrated the shop with Positive East’s annual queer makers market, Q-MART.

We encourage everyone to visit the pop-up website and support Positive East in this unique way!
