New York-based artist and photographer Courtney Charles’ latest photo series went viral for its striking depiction of gay men as ken dolls.

The series titled Ken sees #LifeInPlastic and tackles gay stereotypes and traditional notions of masculinity. The plasticised sculpted bodies set against a bright pink background highlights the oxymoronic nature of our cultural fixation with masculinity.

Charles told Out magazine that “With the Ken series, I hope to show that there isn’t just one common ideal for the modern man… regardless of who you are, you can still be the ‘plastic-perfect version of yourself”.

The series goes on display as the Doll exhibition at Adam Peck Gallery in Provincetown, Massachusetts from the 15th of August until the 21st. Check out www.peckadamgallery.com for more information.
