Sink The Pink Margate: Cockles & Muscles

Do YOU fancy pairing M&S fishnets with the faded glamour of the seaside? Passing out against a 2p machine with a bottle of Lambrini in one hand and a small soft toy seal in the other? Kissing boys in trackies called Gaz? Wearing a dead seagull as a fascinator? Well then Sink The Pink Margate is probably for you!

Margate is a paradise, a paragon. It’s a bit like Tahiti, but what the fuck would YOU know, you’ve never been to Tahiti. It’s like Tahiti but without the weather, blue waters and exotic wildlife. Instead it’s got a shut down Woolworths. But you know what Margate does have? IMAGINATION. It’s had imagination ever since Mary Portas tried to save it in 2012.

So London drag collective Sink The Pink are have decided to descend on it for a night time knees-up slash roller disco slash conceptual art installation slash absolute sandy sandwich shitshow. There’s going to be dancing, nonsense and neon with a jolly old by seaside feel. Think Punch & Judy meets Nicki Minaj meets EricVideos.

It’s taking place at Dreamland, in the Roller Disco Room. In attendance will be the inimitable Jonny Woo, who has a Mary Portas impersonation act that he may or may not perform, depending on how avant-garde he’s feeling. It contains a rap which goes like this; “YO, SAY, WHAT, IT’S MARY POR-TAS, SHE’S A LITTLE BIT SCARY” Genius. He really is a poet of our times.

Little Boots is gonna be there too, DJing away. She’s great, she sung that ‘Remedy’ song, and now she’s got a dreamy introspective new album out. She’s all about triangles and glitter and kaleidoscope patterns.

They’ll be joined by dastardly debaucherous duo Bourgeois & Maurice, SinkThePink princess Amy Zing (ZZZZINNNG!) and totes gorge DJ Kris Di Angelis. We’ll have extra salt and vinegar with him please. Yup, to take away. Stick a fork in him, we’re done.
