The Gay Men’s Dance Company, or GMDC is, as the name might suggest, a dance company for gay men! It’s based in four locations in North, South, East and West London, so there’s NO EXCUSE not to go. Break out those legwarmers and put your carefully choreographed Britney dance routines to good use, rather than doing them clumsily on the dancefloor at 2am.

It’s run by qualified dance teacher and professional dance dancer Alex Scurr (he’s also a sports massage therapist, possibly the most sought-after job in the gay universe).

“I started the GMDC in September with a class of about 24 guys,” he told us “I now have six classes of varying abilities in four locations across London, with around 150 members. I’ll be opening up at least 3 new classes in London this year and am looking at opening a branch in Brighton too. We’re heavily involved with Pride this year and have various performances coming up too!”

“What’s nice is that the social aspect of the group is also growing. I’m organising theatre trips, nights out, random events like bowling, crazy golf, paintballing. And I’m planning to get more involved with the community and charities.”

It all sounds like an absolute blast!
