Founded in 1992, GMFA is a charity that provides useful information for gay men.

It originally focussed on HIV prevention (it stands for Gay Men Fighting AIDS), but now it offers advice on everything from chemsex, HIV, mental health and how to have better sex.

The mantra is ‘to improve gay men’s health by increasing the control they have over their own lives’. Much like the drugs charity Talk to Frank, it gives information in an informal manner without ever being judgemental or patronising.

As a result, it’s a relatable read and gay men of all ages will find something helpful. They have an in-house magazine, called FS Magazine available to read online or to pick up for free in gay venues, which always includes frank and interesting articles on modern gay life and health. Their website is also a one-stop shop for the details of support groups, clinics, and workshops.

With sex education in schools often lacking or just plain non-existent, as is more often than not the case with gay sex, organisations like GMFA are crucial for distributing clear and unbiased advice to gay men.
