Events centred around World AIDS Day


It’s World AIDS Day on 1st December and London’s HIV charities are holding a number of events to mark the day.

Gay men healthcare charity GMFA are putting on a ‘Winter Gaymes’ fundraiser on Friday 1st December. There’ll be a number of live tournaments of games including Overwatch, Mario Karts, Towerfall, and Street Fighter V, which anyone can participate in for a small donation. It takes place at East London gaming venue EXP London, with doors opening at 6.30pm and tournaments starting at 9pm.

Also on Friday night, ELOP are holding a concert at St John on Bethnal Green, between 7pm-10pm. It’s free to attend and will feature performances from the London Gay Men’s Chorus, The Broken Swing Band, Women Sing East, The Voice Energy Project, and Rex Melville. There will also be a raffle and they will be taking donations for both ELOP and Positive East.

Saturday 2nd December, Positive East and ELOP are putting on a Health & Wellbeing Fayre at Positive East’s HQ (159 Mile End Road, E1 4AQ).
It takes place between 1-5pm and will be free to attend, with a number of sexual health services stalls, a screening of the film PrEP, and a panel discussion with Greg Owen, Will Nutland, and others.
