If you’re like me and are spending the ho ho ho season in London, you know we’re in for more than a few treats. Those festive delights just keep coming and this year things are more inventive than ever!
It’s cabaret a-go-go with a twist at St. (Stevie) Nicks’ Yuletide Cabaret on Thursday 20th December at Paper Dress in Hackney Central. From 7:30pm to 12:30am a Fleetwood Mac inspired evening awaits, with shows from Felix Le Freak, Ophelia Love and Mynxie. They’re channeling the camp classics of said Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks. Cross Supernova Tarot’s palm with silver and get a reading, but don’t get too pissed on the mulled wine!
Two nights of festive fabularity: The Glory’s Christmas Variety Show on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st December from 7:30pm. Jonny Woo hosts an all-star line up of The Glory’s finest…Margo Marshall, Sooz Kempner, Sue Gives a Fuck, Fagulous – the list goes on and on! Then stay till late for Baby Wars – The Fight Before Christmas on Friday 21st from 10pm ‘til 2am, with Baby Lame and Cybil War who out-firece eachother in the best possible way! And don’t forget The Glory is open ‘til Sunday 23rd December, when I’ll be filling your stocking with Princess Julia Loves! Back open on Thursday 27th for BoiBox Christmas Party and – wait for it – I’m back pre NYE on Sunday 30th till 11pm. www.theglory.co
Fun night with the cult performance troupe The LipSinkers who finish a three-night run on Thursday 20th December at The Water Rats performance pub in Kings Cross this week. A full on show of major drag. Showtime 8:30pm, with an after show disco ‘til late.
Okay, more crimbo cabaret. This time it’s Winter With Myra DuBois on Friday 21st December at the Southbank Centre from 9:30pm. Myra delivers an evening of ‘questionable christmas carols’ sprinkled with a flourish of anecdotal repartee.
Meanwhile at Savage, there’s late night revelry with a ‘Flash’ Basement Takeover on Saturday 22nd December with Ibiza DJ crew Guy Williams and Jaye Ward, who indulge us in a slice of major dance hedonism till 5am.
This time of year can get confusing, but you know where you are when you get down to the Eagle. On Friday 21st it’s Carpet Burn Christmas Bash! From 9pm till 4am, join DJs Jim Stanton and Martyn Fitzgerald for a busy night of all sorts, plus free before 11pm! Then on Saturday 22nd December get in the groove with SOS (Soul On Saturday) hosted by Roy Inc, where every month resident DJs Jeanie Crystal and Terry T-Rex play soul, funk. They’re joined this month by guest DJ Conor Lynch from 9pm ‘til 4am. Then of course Sunday 23rd it’s Horse Meat Disco Christmas with DJs Severino and James Hillard ‘til 3am.
Then everyone it’s basically time to indulge yourselves for a week but clubland still goes on…yes my dears, the week in between holds a few surprises with a trip to the Karaoke Hole on Thursday 27th December where I’ll be hosting the Karaoke Award Ceremony again with Just May… Starts at 8pm till late!
Then on Friday 28th December I’m joining the gang for Zodiac Hotline, See Ya 2018 Special at Dalston Superstore…DJs well me (plus I’ll be doing a tarot card reading special), Chrissy Murdock B2B with BodyQueen Josephs, Cosmic Cozette, Sugarbear and host Shay Malt!!!! The gifted Camiléleon will be joining us for live compatibility charts and readings too! 9pm till 3am…
Blimey! After all that you’d better start preparations for New Years Eve, when every cub night and bar will be celebrating!
