When it came to same-sex fornication, Society drew a line in the sand  and gay men became creative about finding somewhere to go crusing and have public gay sex. Unfortunately, public gay sex is now posing a threat to one of the prettiest beaches in Spain. What we didn’t quite expect was for our sex in public places to have a detrimental affect on the environment.

The little idyllic beach of Es Cavallet in Ibiza is known worldwide for being a nudist beach with a relaxed attitude. It has a major gay-friendly draw. It is near the exclusively gay bar and restaurant Chiringay hence this sprawling beach has a popular gay section. Furthermore, the dunes are behind the beach so they offer up just enough privacy. Tourists get to have a little romp in the sand now and then. So much so, that it has developed to be a well known-cruising spot. All that is about to change.

“Aggressive public gay sex sessions uproot fragile plants that support these iconic dunes.”

Biologists and geologists are asking visitors to refrain from having sex in the dunes

Gay sex is causing massive damage to the island’s protected plant species because aggressive public gay sex sessions uproot fragile plants that support these iconic dunes Scientists have launched a campaign urging couples not to get carried away on the dunes

Joan Carles Palerm is a biologist. He told the local paper Diario de Mallorca that:

“Free access like this is causing the break-up of the dunes and their structures. The system that maintains them is very complex. Continuous activity such as this fatally affects them.”

In response, authorities have built a fence enclosing the problem areas. However, impassioned lovers are jumping the barrier and continuing on with their activities. Public nudity is legal under Spanish jurisdiction. Having sex in public places is not. Public sex usually results in a harsh fine.

These gays are not so easily deterred.
