BAM! Christmas is over, it’s officially summer! That lie-in you had yesterday? That was actually New Year’s Day, you just forgot. Sunglasses on, suncream at the ready…come on Sandra, we’re goin. Mighty Hoopla is, needless to say, a pinnacle of the summer social calendar.

Mighty Hoopla has become THE event on gay London’s summer calendar. There’s something about drinking a plastic tumbler of warm rosé while watching a solo member of Girls Aloud throw herself around in a circus tent that just ticks EVERY BOX. They’ve smashed it out of the park (sometimes literally) with killer acts over the last few years, including Lily Allen, Charlotte Church, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Chaka Khan and even global megastar Nadine Coyle!

Anastacia Atomic Kitten Mighty Hoopla

Next year is set to be bigger than ever – their exhaustingly camp lineup was announced late last night and includes Anastacia, NATASHA BEDINGFIELD (!) and Atomic Kitten, as well as absolute ledge Betty Boo, sultry LA pop tart Allie X plus queen of fringes Gabrielle.

Best known for being “Left Outside Alone”, Anastacia quickly rose to gay icon status in the mid-naughties. The undeniable queen of tinted spectacles, her distinct style and charisma inspired an entire generation of women and queers to give up on being “Sick and Tired”. Crowds are sure to be waiting with bated breath to hear the American songstress belt across Brockwell Park. Also taking to the stage will be Bronski Beat boy Jimmy Somerville whose falsetto stylings are sure to leave those Smalltown Boys gagging.

As always Mighty Hoopla will also be giving a stage to London’s best-loved queer collectives, from global mega-brand Sink The Pink to the talented darlings of The Cocoa Butter Club.

Stay tuned because there are still more acts to be announced.
