Lady Olé returns this November with a colossal extravaganza on a global scale.
Here to cheer up your shivering winter misery, Spanish queer collective Lady Olé are serving up Around the World in 80 Gays realness. Blimps at the ready for this high-octane evening of drag fabulousity. Renowned for their bombastic evenings of bedraggled costumes and stellar beats, Lady Olé do club night kitsch like no one’s business. This November, they’re casting their vision worldwide with Dragventures Around The World.
Once again taking over their East London spiritual home, The Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, Lady Olé have flown in some of the most talented deck-bashers working the scene. Resident DJs Los Alehandros (9pm – 11pm), who’ll be spinning their usual combo of Spanish, Latin, Pop and Eurodance, are joined by two of Barcelona’s most in-demand globetrotters. Taking the evening’s headline slot is Chilean-born producer and drag DJ Ari Korrales (12:30am – 2am) who’s taken the Barca scene by storm over the last decade and a half. If you’ve been to a major club in the Spanish cultural capital, Ari’s probably played there, as well as those muscle-fuelled circuit parties. Joining him will be blonde bombshell strapped into a red dress, The Real Pamela (11pm – 12:30am), who’ll be making her Lady Olé debut. She’s sure to be on a one-creature mission to save your life through dancing.
What really sets Lady Olé apart is their dedication to dress code. Somewhere between dressing fancy and fancy dress, it’s all about self-expression in an explosion of colour and nonsense. This particular chapter is all about lathering yourself up in our globe’s delicious diversity, everything the world has to offer. The world is not only your oyster, but your dressing-up box too. Be as dragventurous as you want, but all in the best taste of course. It might be getting cold, but that shouldn’t stop you from serving flamenco fierceness, or showing those pins in some short shorted Lederhosen. If you’re a little pushed for getting ready time, you can always just pop into your Nisa Local for a baguette and steal your roommate’s beret and live your fancy French fantasy.
So from whichever corner of the world you hail, let your colours show. Hop on over to Bethnal Green for a night that sure you have you feeling irrational and international.
