Circa comrade Nieko gives us the low-down on this Saturday night at Circa The Club
Circa The Club are kicking off WET FEBRUARY with a big gay bang this weekend, with a special edition of their super popular Power House night! The theme is…EDEN! After all, as every schoolyard bully knows, it was Adam and Steve, NOT Adam and Eve!
Take a juicy bite of the forbidden fruit and release your inhibitions at one of London’s biggest Saturday club nights. You can interpret the EDEN theme however you wish. You could do a Sinitta and attend wearing nothing but palm fronds. Or you could do a bacchanalian white linen extravaganza. Or you could just wear a leather harness like everyone else. GROUNDBREAKING.
They’re pulling out all the stops to drive away your dry January blues! We spoke to Nieko to find out more.
Hey Nieko! How’s circa the club going?
Hey QX! It is going pretty damn well. We’ve had a winter packed with different events; from monthly promoted nights to our weekly Power House and Friday Vibes; each week the parties are getting bigger and bigger, with do much more in the works for coming months! 2019 was a great year for us, putting on nights for the whole LGBTQ+ scene – KPOP, Mint Lesbian Events, Recon Fetish Week, Vibes ‘QUEER’ night, Latin House nights… sn not forgetting The Boat Party! It’s been an absolute pleasure watching queer London turn it out week after week, so we’re making sure we continue to provide the best nights available in central London, providing something for the whole LGBTQ+ scene, with the best DJ, artists, team and vibe – the Circa way!
So for those who don’t know what’s Power House?
Power House is quite simply, our epic Saturday nights! We started it in September, for the plain reason of bringing back feel-good music, in a club full of hot boys and hot vibes. Our music policy at Power House is ‘Euphoric House’ – a mixture of dancefloor fillers, Ibiza classics and vocal house. We wanted everyone to leave their worries at the door and feel like GODS! Our weekly PH resident James Lee Dawkins mixes with Circa DJs Doug GS and Christopher Brown, and trust me – their energy is electric! Of course, Power House is now known for… the PH boys! We proudly boast gay London’s biggest weekly gogo team, with a team of TWELVE Gogo’s on rotation. These boys WERK for their Saturday nights on the PH podiums – and don’t worry, they love a tequila after too! PH is every Saturday.
And Power House EDEN?
YES! So each month we promise to bring you a slightly different version of our Saturday; and for this weekend; we’ve gone to paradise. Our theme EDEN will see our boys, our venue and our team transporting you to the place of original sin… time to give into the temptation, London! Not only that, we sre opening ANOTHER FLOOR! Our ground floor cocktail lounge will be open ALL night, with cocktails, drinks… AND food available! Fancy a £5 burger or Hot Dog? Well, its yours! This floor will be playing commercial and chart-topping tracks; providing another space for your Saturday desires! Power House EDEN is open this Saturday 10pm-5am, and make sure to grab your discount entry wristbands from Circa Soho on Frith Street before!
Tell us about some of your other nights.
We’re proud to have created two very different weekend nights. Every Friday our weekly FRIDAY VIBES takes place; the description of the night is ‘PURE QUEER CELEBRATION’. Hosted by the gorgeous Brandy X, each week we have a selection of gay London’s queer talent perform, dance and host your Friday night – TAYCE, SANTI STORM, HONEY FOXX, BABY, are all regular performers! The music is provided by FRIDAYV VIBES residents Sam Londt + Storm Mollison, who play dirty Commercial House + R&B, with a performance at 1:30am each week. It’s a night where everyone comes to show their latest heels, their fiercest twerk, and ‘yaaaaas!’ to the most talented performers.
However, the LAST Friday of every month is taken over by PLAYGROUND – from promoters Andrew Hoyle (Klub Kids) and Martin Gilherst. These boys put the naughty into this monthly; dressing the venue, and their multiple performers, in a very ‘come out and play’ kinda way. They bring fire breathers, live singers, stilt walkers, the LOT – and this Friday is PINK themed!
And it doesn’t stop there… London, we have SO much coming in the next couple of words, more nights, more events, more memories.. but you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled!
