A message from QX

The show must go on

A message from QX magazine.

QX will continue to support those people and enterprises that are soldiering on through these really shitty times. QX will list and review the many and varied LGBTQI+ shows that have appeared online in recent weeks. Remember, seriously now, freelancers are really suffering at the moment, so if you’re still getting 80% of your salary spare a thought and a dime for those who have dedicated their lives to entertain you while you get drunk with your mates and flirt with that fella the other side of the bar!

QX will be posting information about events that have been cancelled or have been reformatted to appear online, and also ones that are entirely new inventions, so check in regularly to keep up to speed with the latest offerings. In these difficult times announcements often come last minute and timings can be ‘flexible’.

Here are some examples of what’s going on:

Pride 2020 is now being replaced with Virtual Pride 2020Virtual Pride will feature 14 hours of FREE performances live streamed from the artist´s home. The day will also include speeches and messages from leading LGBT+ personnel and an information/awareness directory on the Virtual Pride website.

Jamie HP continues to entertain the boys with sexy shows and naked parties, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and for those of you who don’t want to drop your pants for a good show there are are a bevvy of artists who will keep you delightfully entertained with your cloths on.

Oh, and we nearly forgot all that great LGBTQI+ cinema online. Recently launched , the Peccadillo Sofa Club is an excellent choice for movie buffs on a Thursday. Watch the film by 7pm (GMT), then submit your questions and the director or writer associated with the film will answer your questions at 8.45pm (GMT). Expect some big names!

Also, in response to the Coronavirus outbreak and indefinite closure of independent venues, Queer East launches a new charitable initiative to celebrate inspiring queer activism and storytelling from east and southeast Asia whilst also raising money for independent cinemas.

Asia´s ´Gay Netflix´ Gagaoolala.com has just been launched and is about to go global. We love World Cinema, where you can be transported to anywhere in the world and enjoy another perspective on our queer lives. Big stories often come from small budgets!

There’s so much queer creativity going on, so stay in touch, and keep visiting us for the latest information.

Finally, its not just about being entertained. This is a crisis like no other we have seen in our lifetimes. People need help, and people are organising to provide that help. COVID-19 has hit London with full force. The virus does not discriminate, but its deadly spread across the city is magnifying inequality and injustice. Now, queer people are even more threatened. We know that COVID-19 is most damaging and deadly for the most vulnerable. Some members of our community are at a heightened risk. More than ever, we must stick together and support each other. London LGBTIQ+ Mutual Aid Project is doing just that, so take a moment to see if you can help.

If you want us to promote your creative queer venture or get the word out about something useful that you are doing, please note that the more eloquent the press release the better. This setup is currently being produced out of the publisher´s kitchen with zero staff, as all staff are furloughed, which is just how it was first produced over 25 years ago!

All services are freely provided. You can email all press releases to [email protected] with ‘The Show Must Go On‘ in the subject field.

Keep spreading that queer love!
