Portobello Brewery has been crafting beers and ales of distinction in West London since 2012. In 2021 they decided to raise funds for Stonewall Housing, the charity that provides housing support, advice and advocacy to the LGBTQ+ community. The brewery donates 10p from every sale of their PoLAri Pale Ale and Rainbow Pilsner.
QX spoke to Heather, the General Manager of Halfway To Heaven about the product and the initiative.
How has Rainbow Pilsner and Polari gone down with your customers?
It’s been amazing to actually have them both on draught knowing every time you serve someone a donation is made and the customer is also receiving a really well
made product. They love it.

Why do you think Stonewall Housing is a good charity to Support?
It’s such a great cause and it’s so good when we get to actually hear and see what the money has done for the charity. It regularly makes me proud to know we’ve been part of the journey.
You must have some exciting plans for Pride. Will Rainbow Pilsner and Polari be a part of them?
As always we will have our famous QUEEN KELLY BAR AND FRIENDS and PRIDE this year. We will have Polari and Rainbow Pilsner on a 4 tap portable bar ready to make even more money for the charity. We can’t wait!
What would you say to bars thinking about supporting Stonewall Housing with these Beers?
There isn’t even really anything to think about. Not only is Polari and Rainbow Pilsner a fantastic product it comes from such a supportive brewery ( Portobello) they really can’t do enough for you and the absolute cherry is that 10p from every pint goes to the Charity. We have nothing but love for this.
