Paul & Trisha: The Art of Fluidity focuses on Paul Whitehead
Paul Whitehead is a painter, writer, graphic designer, and musician who worked as an art director for John Lennon and Time Out. He founded the Eyes and Ears Foundation and its Artboard Festival, through which artists could showcase their work on billboards. In addition, Whitehead created album covers for music icons such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Genesis, Van der Graaf Generator, and Peter Hammill.
In the 1960s, Whitehead began to explore his gender identity by cross-dressing, eventually creating the combined persona Trisha Van Cleef in 2004. The film explores the complex challenges and joyful triumphs that Paul and Trisha have encountered, both together and on their own, in the unpredictable and competitive art world. They fearlessly navigate the unexplored territory of gender identity and artistic expression, simultaneously dismantling harmful stigmas.
Paul & Trisha: The Art of Fluidity has had a successful festival run. There have been screenings at the Cinequest Film Festival, Santa Fe Film Festival, Ojai Film Festival, and New Filmmakers LA Docuslate Festival.
