Philip Stover lives in New York City with his husband of over twenty years. He has an MFA in writing and is a full clinical professor at New York University. As a child, he tore the covers off the romance novels he devoured so that he wouldn’t get teased at school.

My Mother’s Ridiculous Rules for Dating is an uplifting and amusing novel about family and supporting family. The novel follows Sam Goldstein as his mother attempts to find him a boyfriend after he’d promised her many years before that if he wasn’t married by 35, she could control his dating life.

Now, his mother has arrived to make good on that promise, and Sam has reluctantly agreed.  On one condition – if she does not find a man after a year, she stays away from his romantic life forever.

And so begins a series of dates with a range of men, each one less appropriate than the one before. But as time ticks on, will Sam’s mum keep her nose out?  Or will he discover that, when it comes to love, mother knows best…?
