LGBTQ+ History Month is celebrated every February in the UK, honouring the contributions and struggles of our queer community. It serves to educate the public about the history, achievements, and challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals. LGBTQ+ History Month encourages awareness, promotes inclusivity, and highlights the importance of equal rights, fostering a deeper understanding of diverse identities and experiences.
A contribution to those celebrations is the work of West London Queer Project. This month WLQP instigates the West London Queer History Project and we encourage you to delve into our rich history and enjoy a sense of discovery and community.
With our rights and freedoms becoming increasingly fragile, this year, LGBT+ History Month feels more significant than ever before.I urge everyone in our community to show solidarity by showing up, supporting each other and standing together as a community. Our rights and freedoms may be fragile, but we’re strong and resilient, and we’ve done this before. I hope that you can join us this month as we proudly celebrate those whose shoulders we stand on. Happy LGBT+ History Month.
Aubrey Crawley, Founder, West London Queer project.
