The East London LGBTQ+ Film Festival will be held at Lumiere in The Mercury Mall, Romford, from 15 to 16 March 2025.
Some of the films included in The East London LGBTQ+ Film Festival
Music Video: Like a Girl Does from Peach PRC
Documentary: Striking With Pride: United at the Coalface by Ashley Francis-Roy.
This documentary is about the unlikely alliance forged between the gay men and lesbians of London and the striking miners of South Wales.
Short Film: The Last Take by Brian Foyster
In The Last Take, a gay movie star from Hollywood’s Golden Age must reconcile with the only man he ever loved.
More than films, it will be a place to meet other people from the Queer community and network with some extraordinary filmmakers.
There will be a bar with cocktails themed on some of the films and stalls from LGBTQI+ artists.
“Havering has no safe spaces or designated events for the LGBTQ+ community, and that has to change. People are forced to travel into central London to meet others and experience these kinds of safe spaces. Being on the edge of London puts us in a weird place because it often gets forgotten. This film festival aims to champion independent cinema while bringing together the local Queer community.”
Festival Director Carrie Kendall
The East London LGBTQ+ Film Festival is a charity that aims to support the Havering LGBTQ+ community through the social group Kaleidoscope.
Kaleidoscope has been running for the past two years and has held several events in Romford, from film nights to Pride celebrations. They also have a monthly meetup for 17s—24s at Lumiere in Romford.
Tickets are £15 for a day pass and £25 for a weekend pass. You can buy tickets here: https://www.kaleidoscoperomford.com/east-london-lgbtq-film-festival.
