Your queer walking tour in London is to build awareness, empowerment and community so that we can continue to cherish and support the fantastic work at Positively UK Gay Men’s Project.
About Queer Footprints
This revolutionary guide will lead you through the streets of London, revealing the scandalous, humorous, and empowering events in the city’s LGBTQ+ history. Walk in the footsteps of veteran activists, including those who participated in London’s first Pride parade in 1972 and those who experienced the 1999 bombing of Soho’s Admiral Duncan pub.
With the voices of both iconic and lesser-known heroes of the movement, readers can explore various parts of East, West, South, and North London. They can engage with beautifully illustrated maps and remarkable stories of LGBTQIA+ solidarity, protest, and pride. The challenges of gentrification, policing, homophobia, and racism are continuously resisted.
From the Brixton Fairies to the Notting Hill Carnival, and from world-changing protests in Trafalgar Square to Rebel Dykes and drag queen communes, Queer Footprints celebrates the hidden histories of our struggle and joy.
This work includes an accessibility guide along with a comprehensive list of valuable resources, such as queer spaces, clubs, networks, and other gems for your enjoyment.
‘An incredibly powerful exploration of a London that has been deliberately hidden, by one of the most courageous and insightful activists we have’
– Owen Jones, author of ‘Chavs’
