Dandy has enjoyed a lot of success at legendary venue, The Royal Vauxhall Tavern. QX had a chat with Deany, the promoter of Dandy. We wanted to know more about the night, and what we can expect on what will certainly be one of their busiest nights of the year.

Why do you think Dandy has been such a success?

I think people resonate with what we’re trying to do with Dandy, which is to give our community a welcoming and fun night out where they will hear songs they love, unbound by any genre expectations. I think all the best nights play stuff you can sing along to as well as dance, and that like to throw a few surprises in. Where else but Dandy are you going to hear Rammstein next to Kim Petras?

Have there been any surprises along the way?

The incredible connections and friendships we’ve made just through putting on our parties. Just a few examples: we’ve got a RuPaul’s Drag Race legend, Sum Ting Wong, behind the decks regularly; we have an international go-go dancer and adult entertainer, Beltran, in regular contact and partying with us; we’ve even had a certain new MP who’s a proud advocate for LGBTQ+ rights in our DMs! It’s honestly insane to think about it.

The next party is on the night of Mighty Hoopla. Did being on the evening of last year’s Mighty Hoopla change the atmosphere at Dandy?

It enhanced and amplified it. It was a really incredible night – such a wide array of faces, ages, bodies, genders, lives; all of them absolutely beautiful and there to keep the festival spirit going, and we really gave it our all for them.

What can we look forward to at the next party?

Well, our literal next party is on May 23rd at The Hub @ Eden over Birmingham Pride weekend, and we’ve got our girl Sum Ting Wong back behind the decks. Plus we have cabaret from two gorgeous party queens, Fatality KO and Cake Boi, and we’re so excited to bring the party back to Brum.

As for festival weekend in London, catch us back at the iconic Royal Vauxhall Tavern on May 30th. Alongside our queen Sum Ting Wong, we’re joined by fantastic dancers and hosts Materia Boi, Wanda Vull, and Naomi Cannibal – they can’t wait to greet you and see you on the floor.

Dandy is on Saturday 30 May 2026, 10pm-4am, at Royal Vauxhall Tavern, 372 Kennington Lane, London SE11 5HY, United Kingdom.
