If you’ve ever wanted to try some kind of small-group naked event, there’s possibly a range of doubts or uncertainties potentially holding you back from signing up.

One of the key anxieties that guys often share with us at Naked Men Talking is not knowing who else will be in the room.

It’s a fair point. If you’re signing up to a ticketed event, you don’t know who else has bought a ticket until you get there. Obviously, you don’t need to be sexually attracted to the other guys in the session in order to enjoy whatever event you’re attending, but we’re often looking for some kind of reassurance that we won’t feel out of place, that we’re where we’re supposed to be, that we’re with our people.

That anxiety might stem from body-image issues. Is everyone going to look like an underwear model? Will I feel embarrassed about taking my shirt off?

Penis-size anxiety can also be a factor. Will everyone else be bigger than me?

Cultural diversity can also be a source of anxiety. Will it be a room full of white dudes or will the group reflect the diversity of our community?

Questions about age are also one of the most common areas of concern that we hear from guys who are contemplating a Naked Men Talking event. Anxiety about age works in both directions. We often hear from guys seeking reassurance that whatever event that they’re considering isn’t just for 20-year-old twinks – older guys are worried that they’ll be ignored if everyone else there is younger. But it’s mainly younger guys who find anxiety about age is a major barrier to them trying something new.

Much of this is about confidence. As we get older and experience more things, we build resilience and trust that we’ll be able to navigate whatever situation we find ourselves in.

For example, if you’ve signed up to a lunchtime stretch-session and when you get there everyone wants to partner up with the underwear model and not with you, our experience tells us that it’s not the end of the world, we can still enjoy the session and come away with a good story to tell at brunch.

We’re trialling a few different events to see if it’s a concept that works for younger guys.

When you’re younger, it’s a bit more complicated. You might not have been to that many small-group events before, you might not feel completely comfortable getting naked in a room full of men that you don’t know, you might be overthinking everything and your mental health is feeling fragile. It’s easy for someone to tell you not to worry about it – just go with the flow – but there’s nothing logical about anxiety. That’s why we’ve launched a new series of Naked Men Talking events for guys who are under 35. It’s a way of giving people a ball-park for who else is going to be signing up for the event.

We’re trialling a few different events to see if it’s a concept that works for younger guys.

The events currently available are:

15 July: Massage Exchange: A massage exchange where we will be exploring sensual massage techniques.

1 September: Penis Photos: A small-group hang-out where we will be taking anonymous dick pics.

3 September: Strip Poker: A relaxed hang-out where we’ll play a game of Strip Poker -everyone will end up naked. You don’t need to know how to play poker.

8 September: Prostate Massage: Bring along a toy and explore some self-pleasure through prostate massage.

If you’re ready to try something different to scrolling on the apps, and you’re looking to connect with guys in-person, these events are a low-stakes way of experiencing social naturism and also having a laugh.
