Rylan Clark-Neal, John Sizzle and more to appear at gala in aid of the Albert Kennedy Trust (akt) Gala.

We love a gala! The perfect excuse to get all dressed up and indulge in some opulence, all while doing some good for a great cause. Raising funds for the homeless charity supporting countless lesbian, gay, bi and trans youth, this is an event with a big heart and even bigger hair.

Relive the vivacious and audacious ‘80s by slipping into those leg warmers and digging out those shoulder pads. They’ll be resurrecting the decade that was all about how more is more. That magical time when a glamour shot in the shopping centre was the height of sophistication. When the feathered mullet was the mark of a hunk. When high-cut spandex was the only thing you needed to take with you to the gym.

They’ve found the perfect venue, taking over the neon-lit, powder blue, art deco Troxy for one wild night. Whether you’ll be serving executive realness or Dynasty glamour, you’re sure to be a hit.

Hosting the evening’s bodacious goings-on will be TV favourite, the embodiment of what it means to be “extra”, Rylan Clark-Neal. He’ll be mincing across the stage keeping folks entertained alongside comedian and writer Jayde Adams, along with East London drag icon John Sizzle. Never ones to miss an opportunity to death drop, the Sink The Pink creatures will be on hand to serve some bedraggled interludes.

It’s not only a raucous evening of head-whirling extravagance, but it’s all for a good cause. 24% of homeless young people identify as LGBT+, 77% of those believe coming out to their parents was the main factor. Since 1989 akt have helped and supported over 50,00 young LGBTQ+ people. The work akt are doing is vital, therefore it’s vital that folks turn out to celebrate and support.

The akt Gala 2019 is on Thursday 17th October at Troxy, Limehouse E1 0HX. Book your seats now at AKT.org.uk.
