Fucking Men is fast becoming a bit of a modern classic. After opening in 2009, it has been revived several times, toured over the UK and US, and this November and December, there’s a limited run at The Vaults Theatre in Waterloo.

Joe DiPietro’s play is, as you could probably guess from the title, a bold and unflinching gawp at modern gay sexual manners. In a time when technology and growing acceptance of homosexuality have made it easier than ever to find meaningless, no-strings sex, do gay men yearn for more fulfilling connections, or can these emotionless encounters be incorporated into a healthy and balanced life?

Three actors take on ten varied characters, including a long-term married couple, a mincing playwright, and, of course, a porn star, to negotiate the plights and pitfalls of modern gay sex.

For those of you who think that all sounds a bit much, gratuitous nudity will also feature heavily. Yeah, it’s in the name of art, but a naked man is still a naked man, and they’ll never take that away from us. NEVER.

As well as the ultimate prestige of receiving a glowing review within the pages of QX, it’s also been showered with praise by a wide-range of gay and theatre press.

• James Seabright’s latest adaption is on from 2nd November to 4th December in the gritty theatre space of The Arches, underneath Waterloo Station.
