05/05/11: Shady Pines retirement home, sorry, I mean the QX Office, was positively abuzz with excitement last week as we tarted ourselves up (i.e. douched) for the opening of a brand new bar.

A first for Soho for many a year… so long ago in fact, yours truly is far too young to remember. One particular salmon suited QX employee, with the ability to hear the pop of a cork from the other side of London, was there before the paint dried. But it wasn’t long until scores of Sohocialites, fit young fellas and a who’s who of gay bar owners/Soho business types were out in force to welcome the newest member of our community.

And wet the baby’s head they certainly did! This new queer establishment not only looks gorgeous inside but was ram-packed with twenty and thirtysomething cuties reclining on the Chesterfields and shocking out to the sounds of James Pople, Alyna Chic and Munroe Bergdorf – a rather stellar DJ line-up of fresh talent.

Plus, it seems Circa overlord owner Alana Winter has kept his magic touch of hiring mouthwatering bar boys. One thing we’re short of in Gayland are cosy hangout places where you can chill with friends, know the bar staff by name yet still flirt with hotties that come in – y’know, like the ones they have on American sitcoms. My years of refusing to give into reality have paid off… I think we finally have it! At the end of the night, Owner Alana had this to say to me: “You dress weird and you’re stealing wine glasses; get out of my bar!” Barred on opening night – a personal best.
