31/10/16: Bringing in the day of All Hallows’ Eve itself, The Orange Shining – Hallowe’en Special was, we were told, something to be scared of.

And trust me when we saw Madame Glendora dolled up like a washerwoman flogging clothes pegs, we were petrified!

Thankfully promoter Steven Artis was on hand to rescue us with a (purely medicinal) Jägerbomb and a goody bag of spooky candy. In Room 2, Nik Denton and Alex Georgiou provided the commercial and vocal dance beats while over in The Shining Room with Zach Burns and D’Johnny, something more meaty was on the menu that had our kidneys shaking.

A plethora of dressed up characters, including a very disturbing porcelain white giant baby, gave it suitable atmosphere, but as always at Orange it was all about the music.

Cracking weekend and we are pleased to say we survived four nights at Fire and all the Halloween chicanery they could throw at us. Better luck next time Orange Nation.
