The search for the next big name in LGBTQ+ comedy reaches its final stage, as the Comedy Bloomers LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year 2026 competition heads to London’s legendary Comedy Store.

Now in its fifth year, the competition has attracted over 140 comedians from all across the UK. The finalists will compete for the title of LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year 2026, as well as a cash prize of £1,000. Audiences and judges Chloe Petts, Tia Kofi, Josh Jones, and James Barr will help determine the winner at the Grand Final. The event will be hosted by Ciara O’Connor and will feature last year’s winner, Sydney May, as the headline act.

This year’s comedians present a diverse mix of experiences and comic perspectives, covering topics such as drag, dating, disability, trans identity, migration, and the everyday absurdities of LGBTQ+ life.

The competition is the UK’s only dedicated showcase for emerging LGBTQ+ comedians to develop their material, reach audiences, and connect with the wider industry.
