The newly rebranded VFD is back with a BANG. It used to be Vogue Fabrics. Formerly known as Vogue Fabrics. FKA Vogue Fabrics. “Vogue Fabrics” actually sounds like it could be a song by FKA Twigs doesn’t it. VFD FKA? Fabrics Twigs? Vogue FD? What are we on about? *vogues*

ANYWAY it’s still the same trendy fash mag slag sweatpit of gorgeousness it’s always been, and to prove that it’s playing host to none other than M Lamar on 6th August. His eye makeup is on point, as are his braids and leather jacket ensembles, that would make Cara Delevigne look up from ordering her Uber Deluxe and go “ugh for god’s sake I’m gonna have to go shopping again.”

Anyway he’s a singer/songwriter and his music represents a feeling that has been dubbed by distinguished professor of jurisprudence (and total hottie) Anthony Paul Farley as “the motionless movement of death through slavery, segregation and neo-segregation.’”
Here’s a bit of M Lamar trivia for ya; he’s the twin brother of model, actress, philanthropist and all-round fierce bitch Laverne Cox. In fact, in one of television’s most ingenious and inherently modern moments of the decade, he actually appeared in Orange Is The New Black. In a flashback. As her character. Who was transgender. Before her transition. RIGHT?! Amazing. So meta. “Meta” is our word of the month.

So yeah, he’ll be at VFD doing his ethereal musical shtick. It’s unfathomably unmissable. Like, go and dance to Iggy Azalea somewhere instead if you want, but let’s be honest, everyone will think you’re a twat, and you certainly WON’T end the night in a warehouse in Hackney Wick discussing socio-political race and gender politics with Laverne Cox’s twin brother. Which is where we intend on being.

•M Lamar’s DESTRUCTION is at VFD (66 Stoke Newington Road, N16 7XB) on Thursday 6th August, 7pm-11pm. Tickets £7 advance, £10 OTD.
